About Us — Pou Zansèt Yo
ISTWA NOU
We exist because memory matters. Pou Zansèt Yo — For Our Ancestors — was born from the conviction that the stories woven into Haitian soil, stone, and textile are not relics of the past, but living inheritance. Every piece we create is an act of cultural preservation: a refusal to let history dissolve into silence.
Racines / Roots
Haiti's history is written in its earth — in the clay of the Artibonite, the limestone of the Citadelle, the indigo-dyed threads of the Plateau Central. Long before colonization attempted to erase it, a civilization of extraordinary sophistication flourished here. Our work begins with that truth, and with the responsibility to carry it forward.
Travay Men / The Work of Hands
Each artifact in our collection is shaped by hand, in collaboration with Haitian artisans whose techniques span generations. We do not manufacture — we transmit. The imperfections you see are not flaws; they are the fingerprints of the maker, the proof that something human passed through these materials on the way to you.
“We do not sell objects. We return to you what was always yours — the memory of a people who built beauty from the earth, and refused to be forgotten.”
The history is the foundation. The artifacts are the bridge. Each piece in the Pou Zansèt Yo collection carries within it a fragment of that unbroken lineage — ready to find its place in your home, your story, your hands.
